Not sure about changing an existing, but someone did tell me not so long ago, that if you apply for a special reg, in that specific case, the chosen reg must remain with the aerie 'forever' But as with all human nature, we tend to find ways around systems. For instance could they prevent you from de...

Re-reading my own post, I would have had to check the date to ensure it was not 1 April :!: Guys this was real. It was their first inspection ever. After Uitenhage they moved off to another 2 local airfields yesterday. As it is local police services conducting these inspections, these newly trained ...

Ensure you are legal !

There is a new branch of SAPS called Border Air Patrol, and their staff have just returned from a training course at CAA on what to look for etc. One of the PE based aircraft has just been grounded at the Uitenhage airfield by the SAPS for missing one of it's documents. This is just to give you the ...

A question ACE. You cannot renew your Authority to Fly at CAA without third party insurance. Not the case anymore. You can renew without 3rd party. Not always a good idea, but you can do it. I think it is time that we look for some other insurer that will give us third party insurance at a reasonab...

I have asked in a few threads as to the status regarding year on year membership numbers. Perhaps there has been a decrease in the numbers and this is the reason why the fees need to go up? Maybe also the cost of having a permanent employee has begun to catch up? (Increased overhead cost shared by l...

By the way, I am not sure if this is still the case, but the "official" chat frequency that was allocated by CAA for pilots to chat on was 130.35 Is this still the case? I think so..... Nope, was Notamed quite a number of years ago and replaced with 123.45. At the time I think SA was one of few cou...

Hi Demon

Met the airfield estate manager just the other day. Turns out we were at varsity together.

He indicated that the scene was in fact changing down at St Francis for the better.

Hitting the devil into the direction of rotation is probably best. But watch out when you exit the other side. Your craft will enter what hangliders call 'over the falls'. Craft pitches quite far forward. Whatever you do - keep your speed up and back pressure on the bar. I think your instinct may te...

FF, since 'we' are assisting with these rules, are we really sure this is what we want? Only issue is the pay part - no problem with all the other requirements?

Larry, just remember on the conversion from MPL to PPL you need to complete every single exercise in the PPL sylabus including writing the PPL exams.

Even thought they give you hours credited, they still want you to do every single blerry exercise!

Getting your direction wrong is an honest mistake and can happen to both a micro and tin can pilot - refusing to ...
