Re: I learnt About Flying From That

Here we go. Pre flighting an aircraft I hadnt flown for some time. Found some fuel cocks under the seat so asked owner what they were for. He informed me not to worry as they were for long range tanks. Finished pre flight and took off. At 1000ft engine coughs and dies. No chance of turning back alth...

Re: Beaufort west airport

Ja. A few stories to come out of that trip. All of them good. Ice on the wings in the morning but surprised at how quickly it warmed up. There must be a lot of history regarding Beaufort West and Victoria West Airfields and should be recorded somewhere. Think I might look into it as will give a good...

Re: Beaufort west airport

Hi Wikus,

Dave and I really enjoyed our stay on Saturday on the way to Grobelarsdal. Had a great trip.

Hope to come again and spend some time flying the area.

Re: Lainsburg Airfield ?

Ja. Been asked to take new Hawk with 85hp Jab engine to Grobelarsdal for owner. Rolls Royce of microlights with glass cockpit and all the extras. Managed to fit in a few hours the other day and she performs really well. Have to fly back on the Airlines which is normally the most worrying part of the...

Re: Lainsburg Airfield ?

Thanks for the advice. Ladismith seems like a good idea so will follow up. Good to have options when trying to get out of the Cape Mountains as nothing ever seems to go exactly to plan. Weather looking good for next week so hopefully will be on the way. Thanks again.

Re: Ramblings

Thanks Uncle Spud Murphy. There are so many adventures for those who fly and and even a five minute circuit has its own rewards. Microlighters are an interesting breed as we fly ,not to get from A to B, but because we want to. There is no greater incentive.

Re: Ramblings

Thanks Andreb. Its almost a pity that we only get to do our first solo once although each and every flight has its moments.

Re: Ramblings

Thanks slysi and Ou Man. Would enjoy coming out to Malmsbury. Busy planning a flight from Hermanus to Grobelarsdal for next week or as soon as the weather allows us over the mountains. One more article as requested.

Ramblings

Spend some time after flying jotting down thoughts. Mayby someone will enjoy them and have more if anyone interested. First attempt at literary genius.

Re: Weight Shift Training in Plett?

Not as far as I could gather. Guy I flew with said that Mark Porter would be able to help and offered his trike for me to use but weather put paid to that idea. Still would like to learn so need to look at school in Western Cape. I think a good idea to learn in conditions similar to what you are lik...

Re: Weight Shift Training in Plett?

Thanks for all the advice but back in Hermanus already. Unable to do conversion but had an hour in the air with a buddy. Enjoyed trike but kept going left instead of right and up instead of down. Usually fly Hawk from Botriver so used to wind and big rocks in the area. Wish we had an airfield like P...

Weight Shift Training in Plett?

Going to Plett for the next 2 weeks and would like to do conversion to weight shift. Does anyone know if there is an instructor/flying school there. Any help appreciated. Thanks
