My apologies. The crankshaft is indeed locked through the pulse line nipple.

How to lock crankshaft of 582 silver top?

Dear Forumites

I need to lock the crankshaft of my old 582 silver top. The blue tops lock with a special bolt turned into the fuel pump pulse connector, not so the older ones. Any advice?

Dear PJB Most, if not all, EGT probes are thermocouples which depend on the jointing of dissimilar metals at the tip. Diesel in the fuel. I traced back the petrol supply. It was drained from a diesel car that was wrongly filled with petrol.

My installation doesn't burp easily. I later ASSumed that the oil return in the tank doesn't go deep enough into the tank to make it burp. Good info, thank you very much. The fuel pressure was low, but I put it down to the fuel pressure sensing setup that is always erratic, but not that low. Rudix, just FYI, the Rotax 912 family has a pressure relief valve on the oil pump. The pipes carrying oil to and from the engine carry no or negligible pressure, so you'd not have bursting pipes in case of high oil pressure anyway.
