My apologies. The crankshaft is indeed locked through the pulse line nipple.

How to lock crankshaft of 582 silver top?
Dear Forumites
I need to lock the crankshaft of my old 582 silver top. The blue tops lock with a special bolt turned into the fuel pump pulse connector, not so the older ones. Any advice?

Re: Aviatika owners, spares needed ?
Hi Rudix Did you manage to establish a parts depot for the Aviatika? I'm thinking of buying one, just need to establish whether spares are available. I wrote an e-mail to the factory in Russia, mainly regarding the conversion from bi-plane to autogyro, but haven't heard from them yet. Blue skies Art...

Silencing a Rotax 912
Dear Microlighters I just thought to share a few pictures of an exhaust mod I made to my Rotax 912. My Hawk has a pusher engine and no noise insulation to speak of, so the noise level during flight was brutal, overwhelming my headphones and making radio transmissions difficult and intercom talks nea...

Re: Imagine coating your aerie with this :)
You nearly scored the first prize in the "How to keep Arthur's Dacron aerie clean when its stored in a hangar with a gravel floor" competition. Nearly, because, while nanotechnology keep-it-dry spray is starting to surface all over the Internet and EBay, it's only function seems to be the lightening...

Re: EGT probe
Dear PJB Most, if not all, EGT probes are thermocouples which depend on the jointing of dissimilar metals at the tip. They can seldom be repaired, especially not between the cold junction and the tip. My advice is to get a new one. MGL Avionics or Comet Aviation Supplies should be able to help you a...

Diesel in the fuel. I traced back the petrol supply. It was drained from a diesel car that was wrongly filled with petrol.

Re: Rotax 912UL oil overflowing? Why?
My installation doesn't burp easily. I later ASSumed that the oil return in the tank doesn't go deep enough into the tank to make it burp. I forgot to mention, the oil change was 20hrs ago, any excess oil should have been in the tank long ago? Water in synthetic oil (I use Fuchs, can't remember the ...

Re: Rotax 912UL oil overflowing? Why?
I'm not questioning your expertise, I thought about the same, but where did the additional volume come from? The engine is standing still and the oil level is a the brim of the tank. And this "coincidence" of the low (0,1 bar) fuel pressure? Then again, the fuel pump is new, with less than 70hrs on ...

Re: Rotax 912UL oil overflowing? Why?
Good info, thank you very much. The fuel pressure was low, but I put it down to the fuel pressure sensing setup that is always erratic, but not that low. It felt like the engine revs were unstable, but always willing to return to full power. Temperatures were a low normal. The oil wasn't milky but I...

Rotax 912UL oil overflowing? Why?
Dear Forumites After the last oil change of my Hawk Arrow 2 the oil tank was overfull, at the very top of the flat part on the dipstick. I left it at that. Today, after landing from an uneventful 2hr flight through light rain I noticed the smell of oil. I found that the engine lost at least 50ml thr...

Re: Fuel pumps - series or parallel
After studying this article by Robert Metzler, who is a Hawk pilot in the States and wrote a comprehensive series about the Hawk in specific and all sub-systems in general, I went for a parallel installation: Actual engine failures are rare. Almost all so called "engine failures" are returned to ser...

Re: Rotax 912 Oil Pressure Sensor Problem
Rudix, just FYI, the Rotax 912 family has a pressure relief valve on the oil pump. The pipes carrying oil to and from the engine carry no or negligible pressure, so you'd not have bursting pipes in case of high oil pressure anyway. A pressure reading above 5 bars (up to 7 bars with a cold start) alm...
