Re: New kid on the block. Wagtails Trojan

latest news is that she is still travelling around the country. She has flown to Bloemfontein, Gariep, Eastern Cape and the latest is that she is in the Western Cape. Hopefully I can convince Johan to tell us a bit more. How many other Gyro fanatics out there are interested in this machine I also he...

Re: New kid on the block. Wagtails Trojan

Wow. at last. Congrats to the team at Wagtail and thanks for finally letting the cat out of the bag ( or is it the gyro out of the hanger ) Still not the prettiest gyro, but an excellent piece of engineering. From the flight I have seen, she clibs out effortlessly with 4 hours of fuel and 120 kg's o...

If you are serious you might want to speak to Johan at Wagtail. They have done it a few times in the past.

Re: New GYros - Latest ZU additions Oct 2012

A, sorry, if I read properly, I see that the question was about kits coming into the country BEFORE Eben bought the business...

Now I am still interested to find out if you are actually manufacturing the parts locally by now, or are you still assembling kits bought with the business?

Re: New GYros - Latest ZU additions Oct 2012

Jo, those are good numbers. Just to make sure I understand correctly, you are actually manufacturing all the parts, reduction drives, rotors, cabins and so on all in South Africa. If so, it must be very good news for our industry..

Re: Gyro pilot help wanted for test flying..

If you want to test on a number of platforms ( ELA, Magni, Sycamore, and closed cockpit Xenon and Kriek ) why don't you send it off to Johan at Wagtail. I know he is used to testing and developing stuff and always looking for headsets to outlast the Commercial pilots flying for them. Between the dif...

Re: Xenon Gyro

At last the Old Red one is airborn again. This past weekend was as busy as usual at Wagtail. At last Braam's Red Xenon flew with the big rotor and more powerfull ROTAX ( Even more power than the XENON RST ). Pictures cannot do justice to the Engineering which went into this re-design, it cannot be c...

Re: Rotax 914 Servo motors

I assume you are talking about the servo motor which controls the wastegate? Wagtail have quite a few TCU units which they have removed from the gyros they operate, have seen servo motors on the self as well. I know Johan have sold a few sensors and other parts from the TCU units in the past, so I a...

Gyro pre-cautionary at Vaalriver

Does anybody know anything about the gyro which landed on the road at the Barrage on Saturday? Got a phone call asking for assistance but we were very far away. Everything sounded OK, no damage or anything, just a big mission to get it home?
