Onboard fire
Once again I would appreciate the valuable input from Microlighters members. I have installed an Elide Fire extinguisher in the engine compartment of my Bushbaby, and would like to hear if anybody else did this before, and if there are any negative factors that I neglected to consider. The Elide Fir...

The Lydenburg squad plans a fly-away to Pyramid (Baberton) on 8 May 2010. We want to take our tents and camping gear and sleep under the wings. Brian Young offered to take us to town for fuel and beverages. We will make use of the excellent lapa facilities available at Pyramid for the social events....

P-Prop pleasure
My Bushbaby ZU-BTB was officially the first BB to fly with a Jabiru engine in South Africa. Everybody I talked to, including old Monty, was skeptical about the Jabiru as power source for the Bushbaby, beacause of the direct drive andthe absence of a reduction gearbox to enable the swinging of a long...

Re: Engine Revolutions
Blue Max The Rotax engine manual states MAX RPM = 6800 The manual also gives fuel burn figures at 75% power continiously, which calculates to 5100 RPM Operating at 5300 RPM is only 77% of power. My Windlass with Rotax 503 DCDI operates at exactly the same RPM, 5000~5300 with pax, and 4800 solo. Afte...

Towing a banner
Someone asked me to tow a promotional banner behind my aeroplane.
Can anybody help me with regards to what are the legal aspects, and what are the risks?

Re: Goose-step?
I bet this guy pumped his tyres nice and hard just before the trip. This goose-step thing happened to me as well, and the reason was that my tyres were inflated to more than 1 bar. I found my problem after reading an article in a Microlight magazine of many moons ago, where the same thing happened t...
