Looking for some info on the VW 2.1L engines used in many of the Cubbies (and some other planes I see ....).
What are the pro's and con's? Is it reliable, TBO hours, maintenance?
Thanks.

Re: 582 Water Temp.
Had the Radiator checked at Silverton Radiators ...................... perfect water-flow, no blockages
-
I have now checked everything but for the waterpump.
What are the chances of engine trouble on a 582 with 60 hours on the clock?

Re: 582 Water Temp.
Okay; I am officially gatvol gesukkel  Engine has done 56 hours since new. During winter temps went up to 75-80 deg C. Now in summer it runs between 80-85 (one up, 5500 rpm). I checked the thermostat (it opens halfway - which apperantly is regarded as"fully open"). I flushed the radiator and r...

582 carb settings
My 582 is running at 85 deg C (and climbing), one up, 5300 rpm and above. Pretoria late afternoons. I checked the thermostat and it seems to be fine (opens half way down and was told that is regarded as "fully open"). Replaced the coolant (30%) and destilled water (70%). It might be that my engine i...

ENGINE START AFTER 6 MONTHS
Just bought a 582 which stood for 6+ months. What would be the best way of "prepping" the engine as to avoid any possible damage :?: Someone advised removing sparkplugs and spraying Q20 into chambers then turning prop several times prior to startup. HELP..... for obvious reasons I would not want to ...
