Re: Breakfast anyone?

What a pity! Clouds were thick and low and kept on coming from the North. Decided to quit- it wouldn't have been a pleasure to fly in that weather. What about next week to give it a try again? vhpy

Re: Just started training

Welcome Gerhard. I had the opportunity of meeting you recently. The weather conditions that we experienced lately was not trainer friendly. It is just a matter of "vasbyt" and building up the necessary hours. Discipline yourself to at least every week have a lesson or two. We are looking forward to ...

Re: My instructor saved my life, without knowing it...

Nacho: Well done! I think you managed well to keep your cool having been "bliksimed" severely by wind/turbulence. And to furthermore battle to land and not being able to due to traffic on the road, is to cause insult to injury. It is terrible to experience such turbulence where you are so scared to ...

Re: Trike touch and go at International airport?

Hi ZS Nel: What you are experiencing is only what I can dream of! (^^) I can just imagine how wonderful it is to fly close by the mountain-though I don't think it would be possible to fly past the snow capped summit at an altitude of more than 15 000 feet asl xxx Please post pictures of your flight-...

Re: Swamps GPS co ords

Hi Jaco: This fly-away was decided on on very short notice(Friday afternoon) due to the non-friendly microlight weather we experienced lately. As a matter of fact, we have already planned such a trip several times during January 2011, but was cancelled each time due to the weather. I personally woul...

Re: Swamps GPS co ords

Hi Tribal croc: I was one of the okes from Kroon that flew there yesterday. We had absolutely nice weather and had an awesome time, enjoying the swamps that are soaked with water. vhpy The area there where the Pienaarsriver flows is very flat causing the water to create large dams or swamps when goo...

Re: ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART IN FLIGHT

I am now more positive in exercising the "dead stick" situation again in future. I think however, that it is important to follow your good advice in limiting the risks. After all, I think pilots should be prepared for all eventualities and the only way to be prepared, is to exercise them! (!!)

Re: ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART IN FLIGHT

I am inclined to think that was probably the problem, i.e that I pushed the throttle without realising it. I am just wondering whether it is a good idea to practice this, taking into account the risk of misjudging the landing and ending up paying with your life! How long must you spend time to try t...

Re: ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART IN FLIGHT

Hi Nick:

Yes, I did flick the mags on. In retrospect, I think I might have accedentally pushed the throttle a littel bit in with my right foot resulting in the carbs to overflow. Just enough overflow to prevent the motor from starting and to scare the hell out of me!

ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART IN FLIGHT

Hi fellow aviators: Last Thursday afternoon I decided to fly a view circuits and to practice simulated force landings. I was curious to experience the dead silence when the engine is completely off and while overhead the airstrip, I switched off the contacts in flight. After about a half minute, whi...
