Check the plans, sure I'm correct. If you move the motor forward the centre of gravity will change from the original design.

Assistance with covering wings, stabilator and rudder
I am at a point with my VP 1 (have been for some time now) where I need to get my finger out of the place it is stuck and get the plane covered. The Dacron has been bought long ago and the dope and fabric cement recently from Kitplanes at Petit. (Who also welded the wing-struts for me) But I am afra...

VW Type 1 Engine push rod tubes and gaskets
This engine has been standing on it's belly since I bought it. I mounted it last weekend on a mock-up firewall on a stand to be able to start sorting out manifolds etc. With it off the workbench I could see underneath it and discovered that the push rod tubes on one side has all been dented inwards ...

Aviation magazine give-away
Any takers for a stack of SA Flyers and African Pilot magazines? from 2012 to 2016. They are in good condition.
For collection in Pretoria. Otherwise it ends up with the recyclers.
(Also a number of years of Magnum magazines)

Need a lift from Swakop
I need a lift for a propeller and two smallish pieces of equipment from Swakopmund to Gauteng area (or basically anywhere in SA for that matter)
Anyone going there for business or holiday who can assist?

Re: Motorcycle alternator (Perm Magnet Alt)
Thks German,
If the motorcycle alternator plan doesn't work, I'll go this route. At least I have confirmation that a motorcar alternator will charge at the rev's applicable.

German, was it driven directly off the crank or via pulley? And for interest sake, where did you mount the battery?

Re: Motorcycle alternator (Perm Magnet Alt)
I do have a nice little alt that came with the engine. It was driven off a pulley bolted to the f/wheel end of the crank. I don't really have space under the engine cowl so was thinking about driving it directly from the crank with the alt on the cockpit side of the firewall but was told it won't wo...

Re: EGT Wiring
I connected up today and applied heat to the probes and can now confirm that the yellow wires go to pin no's 1 and 3, and the red wires to pin no's 4 and 5. As I said above, pins 1 and 5 serve one meter and 3 and 4 the other one. So all is well now! Thanks again, Roy Thks for sharing. Now I also kn...
