My trike is at 300 hours and I am having trouble finding someone to do the 300 hour service - would like the engine to be opened and the components checked for adherence to spec but not change the crank.

One of the charging coils on my magneto has burnt out - no resistance reading from that coil and a small black mark on side of coil. Otherwise the rest of the unit is in good shape - Aviation engines want R4500 for a replacement .

Are there any other options available to me like rewiring etc

My trusty Icom a22 has died and I need to replace ( on advice from members of this forum)- I am hearing conflicting info re the Vertex or icom choice.

Does anyone have experience of both and which would you recommend for open cockpit Trike with a Flightcom intercom

The crystal on my radio is apparently faulty - no spares due to age. The guys at Multisource do not seem to be very interested in making a plan - anyone know who could attempt a repair using a newer crystal or a crystal out of an old radio.

I am embaressed to report that my smoke problems on the 582 were nothing more sinister than a sticky cable which was resulting in the autolube running at full throttle regardless of the engine revs. The manual recommends that we clean and lubricate cables every 25 hours - I wonder how many of us do ...

Please can someone tell me how to disconnect my autolube system so I can start premixing.

Thanks for the info - i am suprised that no one has mentioned rings going as that is what I thought of straight away and is the reason why I am hesitant to continue running the engine- am I on the wrong track here completely or could that also be a possible cause
