Density Altitude

I use the basic but effective way to calculate the DA before I fly. It does not include humd or baro pressure but still is conservative enough. There is some prework required: The international standard temperature at sea level is 15 deg C and the assumed temp lapse rate is 2 deg C for every 1000 ft...

Dre'man, who was the Pilot? Some fancy flying...don't want to do that on FAVV's tar runway!! Thats why we have a cross runway.

This was recorded at Circus landing 05 right? 05 left is the R59 highway!

Thanks for sharing!

Sorry for not showing up on Saturday morning, Dre'man. The weather at FAVV was a bit dodgy so I just hung around the nest. 8) Turned out to be a great flying day eventually! I was expected at Rand at 09h00 and saw three Trikes in the circuit at Circus around 08h20 driving north on the R59. I'll fly ...

It's a great GPS, what else can I say! I tried to modify the yoke mount but that didn't work really. I made a special bracket, using wood, that goes on the Aquilla pod thats at an offset to get the viewing angle right. I used the locking bracket from the yoke mount on the DIY pod bracket. I'l...

Looking for some flying company. I'll fly out to Circus tomorrow or next Saturday.

Vaal Strip : S 26.52.698 E 028.12.212

The strip is to the right of the picture parallel to the tar road. Windsock to the top.

I have taken the advice and "listen" to the engine when I switch between the two mags and the revs droping sound is similar for both cases. I guess the actual revs indicated is not correct...anyway, most important is that both work!

Not sure where Stilbaai is, but there is a Strip (with sock) very close to Misty Bay. I haven't landed there but the strip looks landable for a trike, evaluated from the ground. I have the Coords on my GPS.

Thanks for the inputs, but the "listening to the engine" thing is not scientific enough for me! 8) I need to know what leads to this phenomenon because the other 582's that I have flown didn't have this issue. I can appreaciate that there are many factors to investigate. I agree that as long as both...

I have similar problems. I'm not sure about this, but it would seem to have been getting worse. The RPM on mag 1 drops fast by at least 400 rpm and on Mag 2 there is only a slow 190 rpm drop. I have changed the plugs 1 hour ago. 582 has 51 hours on the hobbs. Engine runs fine otherwise. How can I ch...
