Re: MISASA and Aeroclub fees

I went to the offices at Rand Airport on 7 December 2009, showed them my membership renewal notice and paid my R500. They couldn't give me a new MISASA membership card - I can't see why not and it really tees me off - but they promised to post it to me. Now more than a month later I still don't have...

Re: OK, so what happened??

There seems to be some misunderstanding about the bar fully forward take off. Peet at Crosswinds taught me how to fly many years ago on a very basic trike without any instruments - so there was'nt the option of rotating at a certain airspeed because you didn't know your airspeed and you had to rely ...

Re: CAA Cooperation

Went to CAA on Monday to get a new Authority to Fly. Piet Fourie was brilliant - he had it printed and signed within five minutes. It was probably less than 5 minutes but I don't want anybody to think I'm exaggerrating.
Thanks guys, friendly and superbly efficient - what more can we ask!

Re: I learnt About Flying From That

Now that my mate Alan has told one of his stories I have to tell one of my own. I started flying late in life. I went solo on my 56th birthday. Our instructor, Peet, told me once that the only thing I would regret about flying is that I started so late in life. How true that has been. Starting flyin...

Re: Have you okes not got work?

Grumpy
I'm in the UK to see my gorgeous new granddaughter. Babies are boring when they're sleeping so instead of being out on the streets spending pounds at 16 Rands per (over R30 for a cappuchino), I'm browsing the forum wishing I could be flying.
Hope you are having good flying weather

Martiens, I fly a trike out of Crosswinds. I am surprised that you are unaware of the 125,0 frequency for Crosswinds as it is published on the Jeppesen 1:250 000 FAJS map. Crosswinds has been a microlight training field for at least 12 years and has had that frequency as long as I can remember. Ther...

Crankshaft hours

582 blue top seven and a half years old. Decoked at 380 hours, engine zero houred (crank replaced) by Trevor Davies at 730 hours. Got cold feet about pushing it any further than that because at my age my possibility of catastrophic failure is pretty high without that happening because of engine fail...

Gert,
That jack looks brilliant! Where do you get it from and how does it work? I have been looking for something like this for years.

Weather terms

Salem, on the Weathersa site at the top select National Weather and Forecasts
On that page look on the right hand side under National Weather for Reference and Educational Resources and under that select Forecast Terms Used
The wind forecasts give you what you want
