Re: what would you have done?

thanks for all the reply's every situation obviously merits a different answer but I think the concensus was "get the plane down on the ground" In my experience, unless you are already in the flare, go-around. During take-off roll - stop. Other stages of flight - pull up and/or turn. Birds never (a...

Re: OWNER MAINTENANCE

My AP says the same thing. The long list above sounds good but it is preceded by "(1) Emergency/en route maintenance comprising of the following, provided that only approved materials, parts and components are used:" I don't see anything about routine maintenance. So where does it actually say we ca...

Quote "I used Cubby which is a bitch on the ground".
My first taildragger was a cubby and I have just had a few frights so far. My sixteen yr old daughter will be doing her PPL on the Cubby and she has managed some successful landings already. So we will see.

Re: TO DRAG OR NOT TO DRAG!!

There are lots of stories, some true and some hype. I flew nose wheel aircraft for 30 years before I tried a tail wheel aircraft and my only regret is that I waited so long. 1. I think the key is the instructor and ones ability to do exactly as he/she says. 2. Dont worry about all the hype but all i...

Inexpensive hour building / fun flying in Cape Town area:

I have a Cubby and considering the cost of hire and fly aircraft lately, I have come to the conclusion that the Cubby and Tri-Cubby are good aircraft for hour builders etc. and / or inexpensive fun flying particularly if it is owned by a syndicate. There is a Tri-Cubby (nose wheel) for sale (R180 00...

I heard about a guy that tended to come home late on friday night (Sat am) which made his wife a tad grumpy. On one such occassion he got home to find that all the doors had been bolted and he couldnt get in. So as he was going to have a long wait he went into the garage, fired up the lawn mower and...

b) in case I get caught out one evening I don't think my current light produces that much light! Just a thought, are you also making a plan to fit nav lights as they are also required for night flying. Another thought, is night flying permitted on your aircraft type. My concern is what would I do i...
