Re: What MUST I see?

A must-see is the Wild Coast, down to hole-in-the-wall. It's a beautiful, if barren, patch of coast, best seen from a low and slow aircraft like a trike. Some nice strips to pop into and stay over down that part of the world too.

Re: ASI, ALT and static yearly calibration/Checks

Is this only for flight schools and controlled airspace?

If we are staying out of controlled airspace are we still required to have the systems checked?

Re: Cruising with the "big boys"

Just as a word of caution, wake turbulence (or jetwash) falls behind the aircraft at 500fpm. The jetwash falls behind the plane in a "V" shape, and drifts with the wind. Please be careful when you are below these beasts, you can get caught minutes after it has passed near you, and well away from whe...

Re: My instructor saved my life, without knowing it...

I have a suspicion that Sue may have got a mis-post. Maybe someone who knows her can ask her to reply on this thread?

I doubt that she would be so trite about such an event.

Re: mini max

There is a Vmax (the VW powered version) just completed in Cape Town, I think it is based at Morningstar.

The reg is ZU-FJG, and from a photo I saw it looks like the builder put in a 503 or a 582, which would bring it back to being a Minimax.

Re: Bushbaby Explorer # 130

Hi Nico,

You have done really well, you picked up the kit from my place only 20 months ago, and it's ready to fly already!

Well done, I am really pleased that the plane will fly soon.

Best regards,
Ant.

Re: hangar in Vryburg

But hey, I enjoy the journey, and I am not one of those who wants to say "hey guess what, I flew from A to B in only 'x' minutes..... I fly cause I like to fly, not so that I can say I flew the fastest between 2 points. I really don't get the point of why microlighting and now LSA are trying to 'ou...

Heading off the UAE now, until the kids have finished school, then probably south of France or southern UK. I have three kids with no future here (unless I start a company, build it up, give half away to BEE, and then they may be able to work for me!), so the future is clear. We have to leave to giv...

I looked at building one about 15 years ago. The main pain is going to be getting the correct (or accurate substitute) honeycomb composite for most of the structure. However, if you can get past that hurdle (not a problem if there are 3-4 of you buying and bringing the stuff in), you will have one s...

Sorry Niren, that post is quite emotional. That is unnecessary. You do know that the guys are venting. CAA are enforcing something that most guys see as unnecessary. Your outburst about "babies", being the guys who have supported you for all these years, allowing you the opportunity to support them,...

Often, guys who tend to take a long time to pay just don't give a toss for how you are struggling, and will keep the money for as long as they can. However, they do tend to be self-made men with huge egos, so you can hit him where it hurts, without going the legal route. Just find him in a very publ...
